With Bay Area Vitrectomy your rental period doesn't start until your surgery date, even if we deliver the products two or three days before. If you need to be in a face down position for more than a week, you get 50% off for the remainder of the time. We try to be as accomodating as possible with our rates while still in the necessity to survive in the pricey Bay Area. In addition we have no advance fees. You don't pay until we have delivered the products to your house and you are satisfied with them.
How long a patient has to be face down after surgery is decided on an individual basis by the doctor doing the surgery. Ask your doctor about the expected face down time. Most patients will rent the equipment for a week and extend the rental time after the first week if needed. Payment for the extra time can be made during pick-up.
This depends on your insurance. Some insurance companies don't consider face down recovery equipment a 'medical necessity' and will not pay for the equipment. Other insurance companies do cover the equipment for some policy holders and not for others. Check with your insurance about their policy. Please note payment is due on delivery unless other arrangements have been made. We can provide information that has all the numbers you will need to fill out a 'Request for Reimbursement" form. Numbers include Provider number, Durable Medical Equipment number, Tax ID number, etc.

Vitrectomy is a common medical procedure used to correct retinal tears. During a vitrectomy a gas bubble is inserted inside the back of your eye. Upon insertion the gas bubble rises and applies pressure to the area that needs healing. Check out our What Is Vitrectomy page for more information.
Bay Area Vitrectomy currently only serves patients in the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding areas. There may be an additional delivery fee to locations farther away from Oakland. Sorry, we do not currently serve patients in Southern California or outside of California.
After a vitrectomy surgery you will be required to be face down for a period of time (often about a week). Our equipment makes face down recovery a more comfortable process for both day time sitting and nighttime sleeping. Many of our customers have told us that they could have never gotten through the face down recovery time without the use of our equipment.
Yes, we have instructional videos on how to use and adjust the equipment. Click here to visit our videos page.
We will refund half of what you paid. We hope you understand that the cost of providing high quality equipment explained in your house and the necessity to pick it up and reclean it completely requires compensation.
